WebDesitin was definitely more effective with DD, but A&D was 'easier' to use. It didn't make my hands smell and washed off easily. Unfortunately, this meant it also rubs off of baby easily so I only used A&D for mild stuff and stuck with Desitin when she really needed it. This is the main ingredient in most commercial diaper creams, such as Balmex, Desitin, and A&D with zinc oxide. Compared to the creams for preventing rashes above, zinc oxide is “stickier” than petrolatum and will last longer as a barrier between your baby’s skin and the irritating environment inside the diaper.
